UKIP - the week got worse...

I have to report that the week got no better for UKIP....

UKIP Sutton Coldfield branch decided enough was enough, resigned and disbanded the branch.

The Chariman of UKIP Wales, John Pratt also had enough and resigned.

And Bob Spink MP, whom UKIP claim defected to them, admitted he had never joined UKIP and won't join them! He has even told the local UKIP branch he wants nothing to do with them!

The week so far for UKIP

This week so far for UKIP.

UKIP PPC for Lewes resigns.

Entire membership, over 100 people, of the UKIP Fenland branch resigns and forms another party!

Robin Page (of One Man and his Dog fame) resigns and attacks UKIP in The Telegraph.

…and it is still only Tuesday!!!

Another fine cock up by UKIP!

Thursday 18th October, 273 residents (18%) of the picturesque Shaldon voted in a parish poll for a referendum on the EU, at a cost of £600 of their money, with the wrong question!

UKIP front oranisation CARP (or should that be CRAP) triggered a parish poll in Shaldon using a little known clause in the Local Government Act 1972 . But instead of calling for a referendum on the EU Reform Treaty, the question on the ballot was on the current EU Constitutional Treaty – which is moribund after the French rejected it. Prime Minister Gordon Brown say he will hold a referendum if the Constitutional Treaty ever comes back, anyway, rendering the whole process irrelevant.

Shaldon's Liberal Democrat County Councillor, David Cox said "I'm guessing the organisers of this poll really wanted a referendum on the Reform Treaty, instead they have confused matters and delivered a great propaganda victory to the opponents of a referendum with this mix-up. Whilst I favour a referendum on the Reform Treaty, I think parish polls should be used sparingly for parish matters - not national issues."

Trevor Coleman (see only UKIP in the Village) tried to claim it was the same treaty; however sadly for not-so-clever Trevor the UKIP website labels a 'Youtube' clip as "Trever Coleman explaines the Reform Treaty campaign for a referendum"

It seems UKIP isn't content with wasting public money via its MEPs and councillors. £600 pounds may not seem a lot, but in a small parish it would be better spent on the Cubs or Brownies than ham-fisted UKIP propaganda.

UKIP Welsh campaign - more money down the drain...

As well as being utterly humiliated during the election campaign for the Welsh Assembly it appears the United Kingdom Independence Party chucked huge amounts of cash down the drain as well.
They spent £152,367 and gained just 38,490 votes - so each vote for UKIP cost the party an incredible £3.69!

When compared to the campaign cost of other parties and votes gained then UKIP was the biggest loser:-

£0.54 BNP (£22,880 for 42,197 votes).
£0.83 Greens (£28,082 for 33,803 votes).
£0.87 Labour (£250,000 for 288,954 votes).
£1.18 Cons (£245,973 for 209,153 votes).
£1.20 Plaid (£245,475 for 204,757 votes).
£2.09 Lib-Dems (£239,799 for 114,500 votes).
£3.96 UKIP (£152,367 for 38,490 votes).

UKIP Councillor Stephen Allison - useless and misleading...

Pity the poor electorate who voted for the United Kingdom Independence Party and elected Councillor Stephen Allison as their representative on Hartlepool Council.

It should come as no surprise that Councillor Allison could only be bothered to attend 7 of the 111 council meetings he was supposed to attend, despite pocketing a yearly allowance of £5,410 - or £772.85p for every meeting attended.

It should come as no surprise that yet another UKIP politician is exposed as having their greedy snout deep in the trough of hard earned taxpayers money while failing the very electorate who put their trust in UKIP and elected this wastrel as their elected Representative on Hartlepool Council.

It also appears that Councillor Allison is fond of threatening people with his solicitors when they question exactly where he lives as this interesting email exchange on the 'High Tax Hartelpool' website shows.

UKIP as popular a nuclear waste

The latest ICM poll published by the Guardian doesn't even show UKIP registering a single point. Not a single respondent said the party would be their choice at the next election.

Even more surprising is that this poll was carried while the EU reform treaty was making headline news. With levels of Eurosceptism still extremely high in the UK, UKIP should be enjoying is most buoyant time since its 2004 election success, yet it seems not even to be registering on the radar of most of the electorate. A moderator on UKIP's biggest unofficial web forum blamed the parties miserable performance on the "fraudsters and madmen" in the party who "beset us with their pet obsessions".

The news led prominent UKIP blogger and Woking's UKIP PPC, Matt Davies, to describe UKIP as "a sinking ship" ... "irrelevant and beaten". Our sentiments exactly Matt.
