If your going to try and stir up some Islamaphobic hysteria at least try and get your facts right.
London Euro-MP Gerard Batten has been very vocal here, here and here warning us about the dangers of Islamic fundamentalists and that The Muslim Council of Britain wants to impose Muslim Sharia Law in Britain. Can you imagine the scene of Muslim Courts choping off people hands in your local High Street. This is the sort of vision Mr Batten is trying to conjour up
Gerard your ignorance of Islam and Muslim affairs is astounding. The Muslim Council of Britain has never demanded Sharia law in Britain and is in fact opposed to this. However, the Union of Muslim Organisations has called for this but they only want the family law part of Sharia.
As an elected representative of the muti-cultural and muti-faith City of London can we expect a public apology to The Muslim Council of Britain and a correction from Mr Batten MEP to his misleading articles and statements? A little bit of advice, before being proud to display your ignorance of Islam and Muslims, please spend some of the vast amounts of public cash you receive for being an MEP on a proper research assistant.
Just for the Mr Batten quick guide to Sharia law:
Sharia law is divided into two main sections:
The acts of worship, or al-ibadat, these include:
Ritual Purification (Wudu)
Prayers (Salah)
Fasts (Sawm and Ramadan)
Charities (Zakat)
Pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj)
Human interaction, or al-mu'amalat, which includes:
Financial transactions
Endowments
Laws of inheritance
Marriage, divorce, and child care
Foods and drinks (including ritual slaughtering and hunting)
Penal punishments
Warfare and peace
Judicial matters (including witnesses and forms of evidence)

So basically it's similar to the Beth Din of Jewish religious courts then?
NO as the religion in question does not instruct its followers to impose its beliefs on all non-believers by war if necessary aka infidels. Also, the creator of this site needs to get his/her facts straight and learn to use spellcheck.
